Rest in Peace Amanda and Natalie

As I start the day and get ready for our last summer track practice of the week, I can't help thinking about my two former athletes at Cathedral Catholic who died two days ago in a car crash. They were coming back from a cross country camp in Mammoth and getting ready to go off to college; they were also both going to run for their respected schools. The two girls were the sweetest and the nicest kids that you could ever meet and on top of that, they were great runners due to hard work and dedication. I can honestly say that it was truly an honor to coach these girls. When I think about them, it reminds me how precious life is and how we could be taken at anytime. We always hear it but we don't believe or think about it until something like this happens. We must live our lives as if we were going to die tomorrow; we must work harder, laugh louder, give more, speak sweeter, and love deeper. Though I am at a different school now and have the privilege of coaching a new group of kids, this upcoming track season will be dedicated to Amanda and Natalie, two girls who loved running and gave up so much to be the best that they could be. To honor Amanda and Natalie, I hope to teach my current athletes about these girls and inspire them with their stories.

Amanda and Natalie, may you rest in paradise and I hope you girls are running up in heaven.
